About this place
Tucked away in the Shiba neighborhood of Minato Ward, Kiyo Sushi is a fine destination when you want to experience the patient craft of Edo-style sushi in a serene atmosphere. The chef treats each fish with tailored prep work, pressing it neatly over well-defined grains of seasoned rice into graceful individual pieces.
The menu offers structured options including set, recommended, and chef's choice omakase courses, along with nigiri selections featuring 7 or 10 pieces paired with rolls, plus à la carte ordering. An evening seat works equally well for focusing purely on nigiri or lingering over a drink between sashimi plates and thoughtfully composed small bites.
Seasonal cooked dishes served before or after the nigiri are just as enticing, from house-made salted fish innards (shiokara) and hariko dried saury to butter-grilled scallops and blistered Manganji peppers. Special steamed egg custards topped with sea urchin, rich bony fish broths (arajiru), and dark red-miso soups lend warmth and variety, bringing the meal to a satisfying close.
Inside, a counter brings you up close to the chef's hands, complemented by table seating and private dining rooms. The space accommodates an array of occasions, from an indulgent solo lunch to a formal business gathering, all in an unhurried, focused environment.
